The Central High School girls basketball team split a pair of games at the Killeen Tournament on Friday.
The Lady Cats defeated Richland 42-39 before losing to Hays Consolidated 55-39.
Nailiah Jernigan led Central (2-4) in scoring in both games. She paced the Lady Cats with 14 points against Richland and then put up 12 against Hays Consolidated.
"This morning we played really well," Central head coach Jan Wakefield said. "We executed on both ends. Our first game was at 8 a.m. and our second was at 11 a.m., so I think Hays Consolidated was fresher because we had already played a game and they hadn't. It is still a learning process, but it is good to see improvement."
The Lady Cats will play again this morning.
